After telling her fiancé, Dana, that her entire family is dead, Manhattanite Alex whisks off to her childhood home in South Carolina to serve as bridesmaid at her high-maintenance, estranged sister Jeannie's wedding. As she tries not to steal Jeannie's thunder by telling her family that a) she's engaged, and b) the man she's going to marry is a Jewish African American, things get a little mixed up.

Former high school football star Tyler Wells is having trouble settling into his comfortable working class life. With his job at a local plant hanging in the balance, and a baby on the way, he seeks one last taste of glory by entering a local boxing contest. When his troubled younger brother, Gabe enter the competition, Tyler finds himself battling not only his personal demons but his own flesh and blood as well. The two square off bringing decades worth of selling emotion and conflict into the ring.

Brody is a 'special' pre-teen. He has developed an edge as a result of his size. Brody's mom leads the committee to save the old town of Brewer from the wrecking ball. The committee has organized a scavenger hunt to raise money, with IPhones, IPads and IMacs as prizes. Brody steals the clues and teams up with his friends Flannery and Grant to solve them so they can win the prizes. When the kids sneak over to the old town a day early to investigate the clues, they are transported back in time and given a glimpse of life in the 1800's when the town was occupied. Meeting up with colorful characters as they work through the clues, they learn much larger life lessons than they had ever expected.
